The MCAS Certified Nursing Assistant program trains students for positions in the nursing field and prepares students for the State Nurse Assistant Certification Exam. Successful students can climb the first rung up the professional nursing ladder on the way to becoming a Registered Nurse. This program includes classroom and lab instruction as well as hands-on training in a long-term care facility. Potential students must pass an assessment test in basic English and Math as well as a criminal background screening to be eligible for this class.

Class requirements: Meets and exceeds state of California Public Health Department training standards.

MCAS Medical Assisting is a 17 week program that introduces students to a career in medical services and helps students find employment at hospitals and doctors’ offices. Students extensively learn about the medical back office: injection procedures, sterilization, diagnostic testing, EKG, medications, examinations, minor surgery prep, among other skills.

A pre-registration assessment is required. Call (626) 471-3035 for testing schedule.

The Medical Assisting program requires two courses in addition to the primary Medical Assisting course: Anatomy/Physiology and Medical Terminology. Students that seek to register after September 6 are encouraged to enroll in the next stand-alone course to accelerate progress in the MA program.

Pharmacy Technician

Our Pharmacy Technician Program prepares students for the Pharmacy Certification Exam and externship at a fraction of the cost. Our extraordinary faculty has years of pharmaceutical experience and contacts for MCAS students to get jobs. Students learn basic pharmacology, pharmacy calculations, deciphering and filling medication orders, reconstitution of medications, medical terminology, basic anatomy, physiology, and pharmacy operations among other critical topics. With online assignments and Saturday classes, the Pharmacy Tech program is organized to help students who are already working and want to start an exciting lucrative and new career.

MCAS teachers are experienced professionals who share their industry knowledge to give you a solid foundation for success in a new profession. These teachers also have significant industry contacts and resources to ensure that students who successfully complete our vocational programs have a high rate of job attainment.


Non-Technical Programs


In addition to our world class vocational programs, MCAS offers excellent Non-Technical Programs. Our English as a Second Language faculty is passionate, caring and committed to helping our students become proficient in English as quickly as possible. The MCAS Academic Lab offers a rigorous high school diploma program that prepares students for postsecondary education. Students seeking assistance with basic skills or test prep for the GED or HiSET can receive assistance from highly qualified instructors. And MCAS arts and crafts classes are taught by talented, successful artists.
