Computer Applications & Office Occupations

MCAS offers a rigorous Computer Applications & Office Occupations program that teaches students critical technical skills and prepares them to use the technology of the 21st century ofice environment.

The Computer Applications & Office Occupations program is comprised of two classes.

Office Systems for the 21st Century (Microsoft Office)

Class to be held at:
Main Campus (MTN)

Day: Term 2
Jan 8, 2018 – May 3, 2018
Mon - Thu
8:15am - 10:15am

This Microsoft Office course covers computer hardware and components, operating systems, application software, networks, and the Internet so that students can be successful in the 21st century office environment. The courses focuses on hardware and software and how they work together, the relationship between networks and the Internet, and the four key Microsoft Office 2013 applications: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

Business Technology

Business Technology further prepares students for the modern office environment. Students learn to create business correspondence, reports, publications, and forms and establish a professional presence in the world of social media. To achieve these objectives, students learn the basics of computer operating systems, use client-based and cloud-based applications for word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations and gain experience with AP/AR bookkeeping. Students will make an employment portfolio and a LindedIn profile that shows acquisition of marketable job sills. Course content includes Google Apps for work, education and collaboration, LinkedIn, and all components of the portfolio: resume, cover letter, email template, references, and work samples.

Students are expected to participate in both classes to complete the program.

Non-Technical Programs


In addition to our world class vocational programs, MCAS offers excellent Non-Technical Programs. Our English as a Second Language faculty is passionate, caring and committed to helping our students become proficient in English as quickly as possible. The MCAS Academic Lab offers a rigorous high school diploma program that prepares students for postsecondary education. Students seeking assistance with basic skills or test prep for the GED or HiSET can receive assistance from highly qualified instructors. And MCAS arts and crafts classes are taught by talented, successful artists.
